IMLeagues started in 2007 with a simple idea: intramural sports should feel as fun to follow as the leagues we watch on TV. Almost two decades later, it's the system of record for campus recreation at more than 2,000 institutions.
How we got here
We played intramurals in college and loved them — but the experience around the games could be better. Sign-ups happened on paper sheets taped to the rec center wall. You never knew where your team stood, whether you'd make the playoffs, or who the league's leading scorer was. We wanted to give intramural players the same thing fantasy sports gives pro fans: standings, stats, and a reason to check back during the week.
When we started talking to the people running those leagues, a second problem became obvious. Directors were scheduling everything in Excel — dozens of divisions, hundreds of teams, thousands of games — by hand. So we kept building. Tools to draft schedules in minutes instead of weeks. Online registration and waivers. Officials assignment, payments, eligibility checks, real-time scorekeeping.
Then directors started asking for more. Could we do club sports? Group fitness check-in? Equipment rentals? Facility reservations? Most of what's in IMLeagues today started as a request from a director or a player, and almost every release still does.

Big public universities, small liberal-arts colleges, community colleges, military recreation programs, and fitness organizations. Anyone coordinating more than one recreation offering at a time.
